Assembling a rhino, finishing up Death Guard squad 5 and Death Guard terminators on deck.
Tiger Raja
Painting six Stone Trolls to use in my Dvergar army (Space Dwarves using Ork rules)
Sproston Green
I been working on one of the new ork trukks for awhile now. blink.gif I've slowed my progress because I want to see what the forthcoming edition holds. cool.gif
Needles
Oh my stars, I am working on too much. As a result, I'm freezing and ultimately working on nothing. I have 2000 pts of ogre kingdoms to paint, the start of a lizardman army, the start of a Blood Angels army, a whole heck of a lot of 40K orks, WM pirates, the start of Cygnar, Hordes Trollkin and a few Circle.
I'm over my head, I think. blink.gif
the chosen gobbo
My lizardmen bloodbowl team is coming along swimmingly. I hope to get some pics up soon.

I bought a wood elf lord recently, signifying my return to one of GW's main game systems. I'll be starting on him as soon as my skinks are done.

After that, I need to buy and paint the rest of my planned wood elf army...

Constructed a Warboss, two Nobs and a Marine today. Having trouble getting the metal banner top to stick to the pole. Suggestions?
Tiger Raja
Epoxy! If you can put car engines together with it, it will work just fine for your minis.
tankbusta2.0
I drill a hole into the area receiving the banner with a pin vise, then expoxy.
Justiciar
Sealing Death Guard squad 5, another rhino assembled, actually painting the termies.

Pinning with brass rod would be best. Magnets will work here as well. Epoxy/Superglue are good but cause issues trying to get the banner top in place to start with and then the first time the mini takes a header off the table that banner is done for.

Which the primary reason to use iron gob and big horns from the previous codex as a "counts as" for the banners in the new edition. wink.gif

Did a red glaze on my farseer's cloak. It turned out well beyond my wildest dreams, especially as I don't use glazes much. Highlighted his toga-thingy with striking scorpion green.

Completed 3 Ork Warbikes, then used them as part of a 1500 point Waaggghhh! vs. Tyranid Monstrous creatures list. It wasn't pretty, my trukks died quickly, so did the bikes, I couldn't get anyhting else into hand to hand until he'd shot me up pretty well. Still I lasted 5 turns, bt only my Skreema-Klanka was able to take out 1 Carnifex. My boyz did eat up his 'Stealers.

Starting to think the Kustom Force Field is the better choice then the Shokk Attack Gun.

I had a good time, first game using new Kodex. So, I learned just how much had changed since the last 'dex. Not too happy.

It all worked out when a friend of a friend came through and got me an advance copy of 40K5 rules. time to study up.

Painted 10 Marines with their first coat of orange. I'm experimenting with the leg armor -- any models with Mark 7/8 kneepads are getting those painted but not the rest of the legs. I'm hoping this will reduce the amount of stripes -- I think the models need the leg stripes, though, so I'm not going to ignore them entirely.

Also assembling some Ork vehicles, and a Nob. I notice that your average slugga is bigger than a Marine's bolter!
grizgrin
special weapons bearers for my guard, fleshing out my sisters, painting new Devs for the BA. The rest of it can all take a back seat.

Dat's cuz it'z got more Dakka!
Alun
Right now, I'm working on my first scratch build (besides the stormblade): a chaos spawn. Here's what it looked like a couple days ago.

I've added a little bit to it since then. The right arm will have a mechanical claw, and the left arm will be melded to some spiked chains. Can anyone tell me how to sculpt skin? Especially the stretched effect like you see on Obliterators?

Other than that, I'm also painting a duel my younger brother made last year and assembling some Dark Eldar.
Farseer Mugu
Here's what I finished painting for the month of June, two warcasters and one general. Made some progress on my farseer, painted his helmet black.

I have never done it but if you look on the GW site for using green stuff for plague marines and Death Guard they have some tutorials that have results that look similar. Try here:

I fiddled with my trukk some more over the weekend. Somehow in gluing the horizontal cockpit bars that run from the dash to front of the trukk bed, I managed to dislodge the previously secured bed off of the rear frame but managed to keep the horizontal cockpict bars attached. blink.gif I'm gonna to have to take a good look at what I did and ponder how to un-do it.

I also cleaned up some shootas I acquired in a web trade. smile.gif
Justiciar
Finishing the first Death Guard Termie squad and Typhus, primed the second, assembled 2 more rhinos, and daemon prince on deck.

Edit: Typus is dead, long live Typhus!!!
tankbusta2.0
Typus?

I knew that the bureaucracy of Chaos was deadly!
Justiciar
Working on the 2nd Death Guard termie squad, primed the Daemon Prince, and assembling a defiler.
davross
Erm... Just out of curiousity, does it count if you pay someone to do the construction and fiddly bits of the painting for you? wink.gif
Alun
If it's cool, just post it, I guess.

Finished that duel I was talking about.

Mostly it was practice in mixing paint for things like the ultra's armor and the Iron Warrior's face. Overall I'm happy how it turned out, but I'm not really fond of the Iron Warrior's pose.

I also did some more work on my scratchbuild.

Thanks for the article, it has been helpful in sculpting the skin so far. I was thinking of counting this as a DE talos and saying it's some kind of haemonculus creation. How does that sound?
tankbusta2.0
It's orky, leave it be.
JenBurdoo
The local store is having a sale of Space Marine bits at 10 cents a bit. I bought more than four dollars worth of interesting stuff, including several terminator bodies (including a Termie captain), a few Space Wolves and a Legion of the Damned meltagunner. I'm planning to paint some as Space Wolves with one or two striped shoulderpads to link them to the Tigers, whom they obviously met up with and joined. I also found an old LC/twin plasma Razorback turret. Dunno if I'll ever get to use it, but it's cool nonetheless.
Stump
I've been painting an Elf bloodbowl team in a similar fashion to my favorite English premier league club, Liverpool.

It goes very slowly.
Justiciar
Assembling defilers, more progress on termies.
Lord Orion
Where to begin....I've been trying to hammer out a viable space marine force for gaming, and with a combat patrol tournament looming on the 11th, I might just make it.

I just finished a squad of snipers in camo -codex be dammed- and a full 10 man 2nd ed. tac squad with missile launcher and flamer. A 5 man assault squad is basecoated and the first wave of highlights has been applied. In the pipeline to be basecoated and finished are a meltagunner and plas gunner. I have a devastator squad primed on the sprue, a librarian I am trying to convert from an old space wolf blood claw with modern arms, an old school terminator chaplain and captain, a weapon swap conversion of the salamander chaplain (not sure of his name) and my company captain needs detail painted and highlighted. Here are some pics for you all to enjoy.

This was my test squad for this color scheme

I am also trying to develop some background and fluff for them too. Something with bears, Orion the hunter, and Inuit indians.

Orion
tankbusta2.0
Very nice work.

If you want he Orion the Hunter connection, you'll have to call one of them Goodreau.
the chosen gobbo
Heh, camo marines. I think Gnome will like you wink.gif
Tiger Raja
The Scouts are awesome! smile.gif
Lord Orion
The codex says no camo....COME ON!!! Yeah lets put snipers in bright red/blue/yellow armor and tell them to hide in the bushes. Instant dead sniper scout.

JenBurdoo
Slowly working on thirty assorted marines, including three bikers. How did it come to this? How did I get this much stuff!?
Alun
Orion, I love those scouts! The camo looks SO good!

Today I purchased a bunch of Dark Eldar, including Hellions and a Raider. It'll be a while before I finish them (or much of anything) though, as family will be in town for about a week.
the chosen gobbo
You may have misunderstood me Orion. No I meant no sarcasm at all. Gnome has (IIRC) 12000pts of marines, all done in camo.

Yours do look sweet, btw.
Artax
I'm building/sculpting Tanith.

An entire army of them. Oh yes.
the chosen gobbo
Right, my lizardmen are almost done.

I know I promised pics, but that was before I remembered I gave my digicam to my sister last thursday. Right before she boarded a plane to Canada rolleyes.gif (Even better, I've worked out how to take better pics with it, so I'll be posting some decent pics of my gobbos along with my Lizard pics when I get it back in a month).

I'll try and borrow Komads' shiny new camera on Tuesday when I go to my local stores game night.

Next: I want to paint a unit of Wood Elves (I bought the shiny battalion box on Friday), and then work on another BB team. If I keep my human BB team (which I won, and have no intention of using for a long while) primed then I can paint it for a break when the wood elves get repetitive.
Lord Orion
It wasn't directed at you gobbo, it was at the Guilliman's codex in general. I know you all like them wink.gif Every scout I make is going to be camoed in the same way!
Azmodeus
Wow Orion, those scouts blow my mind!
May I ask, what colors did you use for them?
And how do you paint them? Starting from basecoat color up to striping color.

*Two thumbs up*

On topic,
Building a customised Dark Angels army to be ready for 5th Ed.
Saw Jen and Kenton's article at the Tigers website about building a custom job marine army, so inspired by it.
Hope the new codex (5th Ed) for SM and DA dont make my works in progress obsolete *sweat*
Lord Orion
Glad you like them Azmodeus. Here is the formula as best I can recall...keep in mind I blend paint until it seems right to me, these ratios are about average...Also, this is the order I did it in too

Prime black
Dark Angels green over armor, cloak, face
Black over weapon, boots, chest eagle, straps, belts, etc

Green Highlights
DA green to Snot green 2:1
DA green to Snot green 1:1
Snot green final-very sparingly

Camo stripes-On the green areas these are applied in a random fashion horizontally, kinda like Vietnam war tiger stripe camo...On the weapon, just paint randomly..I went vertically on the face due to the tight area
Dheneb Stone, Striking scorpion green, Bestial Brown

Black highlights
Choas Black to Adeptus Battlegrey (I think, it is the dark grey foundation paint) about 2:1
I do not highlight the weapon with this mix, just the other bits.

For the sights and lenses, I used Scab red-It represents the special optical coating seen on these types of sights and such. I did not highlight that either.

That's it...feel free to copy cool.gif

Alun
Converted and primed a DE Hellion Succubus. Also primed a couple guardsmen. With relatives, work, etc. I haven't had time to do anything else lately.
JenBurdoo
Painted some Marines orange. I have about three dozen, including three bikers, in progress now, plus a Rhino. How on earth did I get myself into this?

Kenton, maybe we should pool our Tigers at CO5 just to see how much of a table we can cover. I honestly can't believe I've done this much so fast.
Azmodeus

I second that! A table full of stripes will be awesome!
You all should do a contest there: Guess the total estimate of stripes painted on the figures shown!
Tiger Raja
I ran a contest like that when I painted my Land Raider Crusader: I put up picks of it on the Jungle and asked readers to e-mail me their guesses. Three guys got it right: 140 stripes on that tank.

At one point, I estimated that I've painted 15,000 tiger stripes for my army. That estimate may be high, though. I must have been high to paint that many stripes...

Jen: Yes, we must have a photo shoot at C05. I'll bring all my puddytats, and you bring yours.
JenBurdoo
You're on! Now I have a reason to finish painting everything else (oh boy... blink.gif ). At least with the Econoboxes I should be able to fit them all in the suitcase. Painting blog, ho!
Justiciar
Finished 2nd termie squad, greenstuffed all the vehicles and a fig or two, and started painting daemon prince.
Azmodeus
Haha , yeah Tigerman, I tried that with your contest on the LRC.
Nearly drove me insane and crosseyed doing that counting the stripes.
I'm still amazed at the amount of stripes that you have done.

Wonder what is Jen's estimate so far on hers .. hehe

Now what ya all planned better be on the front page of Veda news next update
Big picture spreads!

ps. Kenton dont forget your pet tiger mascot as well. I doubt Jen is able to bring her living titan feline.

(Ack I double posted! So sorry! I blame the fungusbeer)
Alun
More bad pics from yours truly.

These two guards-people(?) are all I've managed to paint in the last week or so.

On a side note, I finally took a picture of that super-heavy tank I scratch built (remember him?)

The treads are pretty rough, but oh well.
