The Fabulous Orcboy
A slow start, but I have more time now than I have in the past. One hopes I can update semi-regularly.

Cambyses
Good stuff Ken. I'd only ask for dates in all of the heading lines. It lets your reader know immediately how relavent the piece is.

Raven
Seems we are starting a trend. Looks excellent thus far! biggrin.gif
Tiger Raja
Obviously, this blog has been created by an imposter. The Orcboy is never defeated. Ever. At least not by me.
Justiciar
Amen! If my memory had faded Orcboy gave me a serious re-edjumakation at CO6.

Verra Nice!

Good stuff!
The Fabulous Orcboy
http://fabulousorcboy.blogspot.com/ UPDATED

Now available: my four games at FRAGtoberfest, a most excellent tournament organized by the fine folks at Frederick Area Gamers.
Wandering1
I'm glad you are getting 'up to speed' with 5th ed. You seem to be enjoying yourself more, this tourney. btw, I don't remember the conversation you mentioned inspiring your Slann. What/when was it?
Raven
I rather enjoyed these battle reports. Excellent work getting 2nd! biggrin.gif
The Fabulous Orcboy
Wandering -- the conversation was at the get-together we had in Houston, all those years ago.....
Wandering1
Ah, yeah. When you -annihilated- my Iron Crane Deadwing, I mean Deathwing force. biggrin.gif

Another UPDATE, just in time for me to head to another tournament smile.gif

Read on, read on. http://fabulousorcboy.blogspot.com/
Devilsquid
Go sisters of battle!

wink.gif
Raven
Sisters of battle are great...but its also sad to see you dropping the Tau. Its widely considered (in my gaming club) that the Tau are in the top 3 best armies, if not THE best army...even with their 4e downfalls. sad.gif

But then again, I've always had a soft spot for the ladies...
The Fabulous Orcboy
Hi, Raven

I'm not dropping them permanently -- I'm just tired of working on them for the moment. Don't worry, the Tau are much more my style than Sisters; eventually I'll get back and retool the list to more effectively optimize them for 5e, and play them again smile.gif
Raven
Good deal. I was a bit disappointed for a moment! biggrin.gif
The Fabulous Orcboy
Another Update!

This one includes two sets of posts: one a Retrospective on last August 2009's Counteroffensive activities, and the second an overview of a tournament I attended last month using a Sisters of Battle list. Plenty of new year's reading smile.gif
Raven
OoOoOo...the Easy Bake Oven army list. I've always wanted to try it, but as Stelek mentions on his site, its rediculously expensive to build up as most of the Sisters are metal. sad.gif

A quite impressive start; especially since its a very difficult army to use. Good job! biggrin.gif

As for how to face a horde Tyranid army, I cannot really comment until I have the concrete codex sitting in my hands. Even though there are many confirmed units out there, a great many are still un-confirmed. However, I don't expect you'll be seeing quite the same set up as your opponent employed. But rather, several spore podding groups of Hive Guard/Zoanthropes blowing huge holes in your line of rhinos with indirect fire/rear armor shots. And once thats done, Tervigon will be just moving forward, creating their own huge packs of termagaunts to claim objectives. All the while, you'll have to deal with the likes of shooty carnifexes/Mawlocs and Trygons in their feeding frenzy. All of which is nasty sauce for the Easy Bake list (my Black Templar are also dreading their return to power). Once I get ahold of the codex, I'll toss some theoretical responses your way.

I take all the tactica and advise I see with a grain of salt, but I find Stelek's stuff to generally be pretty solid. I agree with him when he says that the new codex will most certainly change the way we play our games in 5e.
Cambyses
Always fabulous stuff, Orcboy, but I'll ask for one correction...the Wolfhounds aren't Sallies, just a good ol' vanilla, Ultramarine successor chapter. cool.gif
The Fabulous Orcboy
Camby -- changed!
Cambyses
When you look up awesome in the dictionary, it says, "see Ken."
Sho T BigHed
Well, he is not the "Fabulous" Orcboy for nothing laugh.gif
The Fabulous Orcboy
Why yes, it IS updated!

Note: this update is all Warhammer Ancients, but the entries do come with pretty maps!
The Fabulous Orcboy
Why, it's ANOTHER Update! This one includes reports from the 20 February Pancake Tournament I attended down in Maryland.

Game #2 in particular was a doozy. angry.gif
Tiger Raja
Awesome read, mein freund! biggrin.gif Sorry to learn about Game #2.

Pat mentioned to me about putting up a link to your blog and I just plain brain-farted. Sorry. I'll remedy that next time. sleep.gif sad.gif
The Fabulous Orcboy
UPDATED!

Latest Tournament Results, as well as a pick-up game over my Spring Break, at the Warmonger Club. Enjoy the light reading, all!
Cambyses
So, Orcboy, do you think your opponent took any of your advise to heart or is he just going to find it harder to set up good games with fun players?
The Fabulous Orcboy
Camby -- honestly, I don't know. He's young, so it's not like it's a lost cause. But on the other hand, he's in a club (and a city) that tends to foster that kind of hyper-competitiveness. It's one of the reasons why New Yorkers sometimes come across as very ABRASIVE to folks from other places.

That said, part of the lesson is "when in rome". If I'm going to play in a club with a large number of players like that, then that kind of attitude is the norm. I'll just need to make sure to adjust, and find a good balance for me smile.gif
Cambyses
Well Ken, at CO I'll play you if you'd like. Your surely not going to get that kind of game from me. Rules discussions, most likely, but no arguments, I promise.

Of course, you can bring your B game and still pretty much wipe the table with me.
Raven
I would rather like to play you as well. smile.gif
The Fabulous Orcboy
Woot! Happy to start a dance card already, I am.

Let's see: Camby and Raven. Check, and check!
Tiger Raja
I, too, would like to once again beat my head against The Wall that is whatever army the Orcboy is fielding at CO7.
The Fabulous Orcboy
Sheesh, such performance anxiety I will be having. No problem, Tigger, you're on the dance card!
The Fabulous Orcboy
Why, it's three more Batreps from the Orcboy. And with pictures, too (courtesy of TheEC from the Frederick Area Gamers)!

http://fabulousorcboy.blogspot.com/
Tiger Raja
Very cool batreps--loved the diagrams (and notes) that went with the Ork deployment! More photos next time, and congratz on winning the whole schmeer! smile.gif
Justiciar
Agreed, the diagrams were uber-helpful and made things crystal clear. Cool as always.
Tiger Raja
QUOTE
No need to set up Orks HERE, because if Tau sets up static units HERE, the Ork player has already won because Tau player is a moron

Too Damn Funny! laugh.gif
The Fabulous Orcboy
Aw, shucks smile.gif Thanks, guys. And I'll try and come into the Modern Age and start taking pictures of my games and opponents, etc.
Raven
I also thought that quote on the diagram was quite humorous. Excellent writeups as always. Beginning to become one the more looked forward to times of the month, reading these. smile.gif

And of course, congrats on winning the tournament! biggrin.gif
Mephet'ran
I too enjoyed the light humor in some of the comments, and the pictures and diagrams were useful, since battle reports that are only words with no pictures can sometimes be hard to keep up with.

Like everyone else is sayin' congrats!
The Fabulous Orcboy
UPDATED!
Tiger Raja
Wow. blink.gif Dude, I thought only I made meat-head errors like that. tongue.gif wink.gif Did you at least have fun? smile.gif
The Fabulous Orcboy
It's hard for me to have "fun" when I know I've made giant meat-head errors. And my second game (the one I actually won!) was pretty un-fun, due to pace-of-game. But all things considered, I think I enjoyed myself at the tournament tongue.gif
The Fabulous Orcboy
Updated again!!

This time with Historicon coverage and fabulous historicals pictures galore!
tankbusta2.0
Wow, that's a big update!

I'll wait until Sunday when I have a big cup of coffee, and time away from work to enjoy it all.
